Transformer breakdown is a big problem. In fact, it always seem to happen precisely when a loss of network power is guaranteed to cause the most inconvenience and financial loss. So the faster you can get hold of a transformer expert to diagnose your problem and recommend a solution, then the best chance there is of minimizing the possible impact on your business.

R Baker (Electrical) Ltd runs a 24/7 service please look at our website www.rbaker.co.uk for more details

Transformer are used for a range of applications but all use the same theory of transferring electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors, which are known as the transformer's coils.

The two principles of a transformer are an electric current producing a magnetic field and secondly that a changing magnetic field within a coil of wire induces a voltage across the ends of the coil. Altering the current in the primary coil changes the magnetic flux that is developed. The changing magnetic flux induces a voltage in the secondary coil.

When manufacturing an ideal transformer you would have no energy losses, and would be 100% efficient. In practical when manufacturing and designing transformers you have to take into account energy that is dissipated in the windings, core, and surrounding structures. Larger transformers are generally more efficient, and those rated for electricity distribution usually perform better than 98%.

If you are looking to get a transformer manufactured or would like a quote for a repair please see our website at www.rbaker.co.uk/products/transformers.
